A Pennsylvania waitress said a consumer left her a note about face masks on his invoice in lieu of a tip after she reminded the guy that he needed to use one when he’s not seated.

A photo of the receipt with the word “mask” composed on the suggestion line was shared on the Facebook page of John Henry’s Club of Ardmore, where the waitress works.

” When your staff nicely asks a consumer to use a mask till seated, this is how they are disrespected. Totally undesirable. ‘YOU’ must be ashamed of yourself !!” a caption on the post checks out.

The club’s owner, Kathy Kearney, told NBC News in a phone interview Thursday that the man entered into her facility Sunday for a meal. When he got up from his table and began walking through the club without a mask, a server asked him to put one on.

The bar’s policy states that customers should use a face mask when not seated at their table. Kearney said staff often advise consumers who forget.

” As we do with a lot of different clients, as they walk in we ask to put their masks on or while they’re in and they stand, we kindly remind them to put their mask back on when they’re moving about,” she stated.

” It’s not offensive, it’s not aggressive, it’s a kindly pointer.”

The server, Jamie Ledwith, told NBC Philadelphia that after she asked the guy to use a mask, he dismissed her.

” When I stated, ‘Can you please put your mask on if you’re walking through the bar,’ they were type of like, they brushed it off their shoulder and they said, ‘Well, you know it’s no big offer, we’re going to take a seat anyway,'” Ledwith stated.

When Ledwith went to collect the receipt from the male’s table, she saw the note the customer had actually left for her on his $2350 expense.

Kearney stated she was upset about the occurrence and chose to share a photo of the invoice on the bar’s Facebook page.

” If you didn’t like our policies or if you were irritated by us asking you to place on a mask then simply leave a no or leave it blank,” she said. “But to write in the word ‘mask’ simply seemed disrespectful.”

” I simply wanted to remind individuals that we’re doing a tough enough task as it is and not to contribute to it needlessly,” she added.

The Facebook image has actually drawn strong reactions from people slamming the client over the message and for not leaving a pointer. Some people have donated money to Ledwith.

Kearney stated she doesn’t want the focus to be about the cash.

” It has nothing to do with cash,” she said Thursday. “It was just the belief behind the mask comment.”
